AREAS AFFECTED: Northern Herkimer; Hamilton
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 7 inches. * WHERE...Hamilton and Northern Herkimer Counties. * WHEN...From 1 AM Wednesday to 7 AM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. Plan on slippery road conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A clipper low will bring a widespread snowfall Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. A cold front will bring scattered snow showers and isolated snow squalls Wednesday afternoon into early Wednesday evening. A brief period of lake effect snow will occur in the wake of the front Wednesday night before diminishing.
INSTRUCTION: Slow down and use caution while traveling.

Cumulus clouds are fluffy and textured with rounded tops, and
may have flat bottoms. The border of a cumulus cloud
is clearly defined, and can have the appearance of cotton or cauliflower.
Cumulus clouds form at low altitudes (rarely above 2 km) but can grow very tall,
becoming cumulus congestus and possibly the even taller cumulonimbus clouds.
When cumulus clouds become taller, they have a greater chance of producing precipitation.
