DESCRIPTION: ...Warm, Dry and Windy Conditions Expected Tuesday... .Dry conditions will continue across the region on Tuesday as westerly winds increase to 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon, with frequent gusts over 35 mph. The winds, combined with continued very dry conditions will allow for the rapid spread and growth of any fires. The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 002 Rawlins, 003 Decatur, 004 Norton, 013 Sherman, 014 Thomas, 015 Sheridan, 016 Graham, 080 Hitchcock, 081 Red Willow and 253 Kit Carson. * TIMING...From Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. * WINDS...Northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 percent. * IMPACTS...Unpredictable fire behavior. Any fires that develop may rapidly grow and spread out of control.

A contrail is an artificial cloud, created by the passing of an aircraft.

Contrails form because water vapor in the exhaust of aircraft engines is suspended in the air under certain temperatures and humidity conditions. These contrails are called exhaust contrails.

Another type of contrail can form due to a temporary reduction in air pressure moving over the plane's surface, causing condensation. These are called aerodynamic contrails.

When you can see your breath on a cold day, it is also because of condensation. The reason contrails last longer than the condensation from your breath is because the water in contrails freezes into ice particles.
